Convergéncia Occitana aims to “define and drive a true Occitan policy for Toulouse and Occitanie.”
This federative association was founded in 1998 at the initiative of various associations that signed a charter.

This association is an active participant in public life, and it is a member of the European network “NPLD” for the defense of linguistic rights in Europe. In each election since 2008, it presents its “Proposals for the Development of the Occitan Language and Culture” to various candidates.

The members of Convergéncia Occitana share a common vision of Occitan identity, which is plural, shared, social, and creative. This vision is based on a civilization, a language, and a thousand-year-old literature.

The Occitan language and culture open up a wide range of experiences: musical, literary, educational, social, and civic. These experiences and those of all so-called “regional” languages in France form the basis of our country’s cultural plurality (before the contributions of immigration).

As Félix Castan demonstrated, the centralism and unitarism of France have dried up the entire country. Major cities have been provincialized. Occitan culture must help our cities to become “capitals” where intellectual, cultural, and artistic syntheses naturally occur.

Convergéncia Occitana is also committed to developing links between Toulouse and Occitanie with the Catalan Countries.
