You are on the website of CONVERGENCIA OCCITANA, an association born in 1998 by the will of more than forty Occitan associations…
Today, CONVERGENCIA OCCITANA brings together more than 90 associations from Toulouse, from the Haute Garonne department, or from the Occitanie region, all working, directly or indirectly, for the Occitan culture… and for the influence of our Occitan country.
The association, which is now over 25 years old, has been managing and running the OSTAL D’OCCITANIA, the House of Occitania, since 2006. The premises, which belong to the Toulouse town hall were restored from 2001 to 2006. The former residence of the Capitouls Huc de Boysson (1492) and Jean de Cheverry (1515), a 15th century gem, welcomes you as a haven of peace and culture in the heart of the Occitan capital!
In these venerable and magnificently restored places, you will come to meet the associations which have their headquarters there and which work there daily (teaching, cultural diffusion, publishing, professional training, music, theatre, radio, video, cinema, philosophy, history, etc.). You can also take advantage of the many activities,which are presented here: exhibitions, conferences, concerts etc..The frames of these events are multiple: Ostal Thrusdays, the Ostal birthday, the music festival, the diada de Catalunya, the heritage Days etc…
The “Tuta d’Oc,” a space for the diffusion of cultural products, will allow you to get the latest publications in the Occitan language, while “A Taula” will welcome you on its terrace for a meal featuring local wines and products from Occitania…
Convergència Occitana is primarily a place for exchanges and synergies between the actors of Occitan life. It knows how to be there during the key moments in the life of the city, especially during elections time, so that our elected officials and fellow citizens know that an “Occitan perspective” is necessary for our region and our beautiful city to move resolutely toward the future in the light of its age-old culture!
